Welcome

You  have been redirected to this site as the ChicagoBellydancers.com is now defunct. Chicago MECDA has taken over this function for the community. Please create a new log in if you want to add your links to this page. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

This website is intended as a resource for all the greater Chicagoland area Middle Eastern Culture and Dance enthusiasts out there. You do not need to be a member of MECDA to utilize the site.

A Note to Event Producers

Event producers, as soon as you book an event, please post it in the event calendar, so that others know that date is "taken." Chicago is producing more and more wonderful events and workshops, and we need to know about them as soon as possible so others don't book events on the same day. Although we realize that sometimes events will conflict, we want to do our best to avoid the overlap so events can be as successful as possible. :)

About Chicago MECDA

The Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of MECDA (CM-MECDA) was formed in February of 2005 to serve the needs of the greater Chicagoland area and nearby states such as Northwest Indiana, Southeast Wisconsin and Southwest Michigan.

The benefits of joining Chicago MECDA include:

* The means to unify the dance community under one organization.
*All profits from our events go into a CM-MECDA bank account, which are used to sponsor parties, workshops, and buy educational, instructional, and performance videos for our library. Education makes better dancers, which benefits everyone.
* Discounts to events in Chicago including shows, workshops, and festivals (many of the events advertised on this page offer MECDA discounts)

* Access to CM-MECDA's video library
* We have our own CM-MECDA line of Sisters in Belly Dance gifts and apparel
* Articles written about our events get published in the MECDA section of the Chronicals which increases individual and community exposure nation wide (you receive the Chronicals free with your membership).

In 1893, Little Egypt took the nation by storm at the World's Columbian Exposition.
Since then, it seems that all the visibility in belly dance migrated to the coasts.

It is CM-MECDA 's goal to put Chicago back on the map!
